Charlie DiPietro, the owner of Sports Cards Plus, told MySA the robbers were only inside for three minutes.

DiPietro said the alarm system at his shop notified the police and his family of the burglars. He said the robbers were only inside for three minutes. Police responded to the scene about five minutes after the alarm system went off, DiPietro added.

“If they would have been in here for two more minutes, they would have gotten caught,” DiPietro said.

The San Antonio Police Department said the burglars showed up in a U-Haul truck and filled up trash bags with thousands of dollars worth of collectibles. The burglars, believed to be four males, then fled toward Loop 410, according to the police.

DiPietro said he doesn’t know the estimated total of what was taken at this time. He said he’ll know more of a number in the next few days. However, DiPietro said he was offering the $20,000 reward because that’s how much was stolen.

“I want to put these people in jail and I want to do it the right,” DiPietro said, adding how he’s working with police to view the 23 cameras set up at the store.

The store has been open in the Lockhill-Village Shopping Center for over 30 years. Find it: 2251 Lockhill Selma Rd., San Antonio, TX 78230.
