Reward offered in slaying of Phenix City woman gunned down on her front porch

A reward is being offered for information in the shooting death of a woman who was gunned down on the front porch of her Phenix City home.

Central Alabama Crime Stoppers on Friday announced the $1,000 reward in the June 1 slaying of 36-year-old Sharmeethia Mason.

The deadly shooting happened about 9:30 p.m. that Tuesday on 11th Avenue in Phenix City.

Witnesses told police that an unidentified person walked around the corner and shot Mason as she sat on her porch. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

The suspect fled the scene on foot. No description has been released.

Several shell casings were recovered from the property.
