$10K reward offered in arson that torched playground in Southern California

Officials in Pomona are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the identification, capture and conviction of an arsonist responsible for torching a local playground, authorities announced Monday.

Officers with the Pomona Police Department responded to reports of the fire at Montvue Park just after 11 p.m. Sunday night, according to a news release.

By the time police arrived at the park, the playground equipment was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews with the Los Angeles County Fire Department extinguished the blaze but the fire caused extensive damage and left the playground unusable.

“The City of Pomona has authorized a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest & conviction of the person(s) responsible for the fire at Montvue Park,” the release stated.
