City of Ingleside’s new animal shelter building is making progress

INGLESIDE, Texas — The City of Ingleside is making progress on their new animal shelter building that will be located next to the city’s recycling center.

The area is expected to hold approximately 26 animals and gives them all the space they need to find forever homes.

City Manager, Brenton Lewis said that council also approved a mobile unit that will help in the event of a hurricane.

“The City of Ingleside has never owned an animal shelter,” said Lewis. “We are relocating our shelter. We can expand it. That’s number one. And it’s on our property, we have complete control of it. We do not have a landlord.”

Lewis says the facility’s sizing was based off the city population and the building was designed by a company specializing in building animal control facilities.

The new animal shelter is expected to be completed by September of this year.
