Between noon Monday and Tuesday morning, someone stole a trap net that was in use on Lake Mitchell by state Highway 37 between Kibbee Park and the spillway.
The net is black, approximately 15 feet long with a 15-foot shore line attached. The frame of the net consists of three round, tubular-shaped metal hoops that are approximately 4 feet in diameter and two tubular, metal, rectangular-shaped pieces that are approximately 4- by-6 feet in size. Netting was placed on the outside of these frame pieces. The net was deployed by the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks. Estimated value of a trap net is $600.
This net is illegal for individuals to use.
The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks is offering a $250 reward for information provided to Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest in this incident. This reward is offered in addition to a $250 reward offered by Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers. A total of $500 is offered for information provided to Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers that leads to an arrest in this incident.
