Reward being offered for information on neglected dog found in Beaver Falls

BEAVER FALLS – Officials from the Beaver County Humane Society (BCHS) are offering a reward for information regarding an abandoned puppy.

According to the BCHS Facebook page, an emaciated puppy was brought to their care after it was discovered in the woods around Beaver Falls. The humane society is offering a $500 reward for anyone who is able to lead them to the dogs former owner.

Veterinarians said the dog was hypothermic, too weak to stand and soaked in urine. The puppy seems to have an older injury on it’s front left leg and is reported to be “extremely anemic,” which officials from BCHS said is likely caused by malnutrition and parasites.

“We are unsure if this pup was out in the elements for weeks or if it was just dumped recently,” said Cailin Rankin, shelter manager at BCHS. “We want to be Beaver County’s resource when caring for an animal becomes too much, we wish the person or persons who did this would have turned to us instead of leaving this pup in the woods to die.”

According to veterinarians from the BCHS, the puppy would not have survived in the woods if it was not found yesterday evening. They will continue to monitor the dog’s bloodwork and tests, but the puppy may require a blood transfusion if its results do not improve. Once the animal’s condition improves, veterinarians will evaluate its front legs and joints.

Those with information regarding the abandoned puppy are being asked to call the BCHS Police Department at 724-775-5801, ext. 110. Those looking to help this neglected dog and other animals in need of special care are also encouraged to donate to the humane society on their website.
