Reward offered for tip that leads to arrest of driver in crash that killed Lake Orion man

As the search continues for the driver who hit a road sign which then crashed into another driver’s car and ultimately caused his death, a reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.

Thomas “Tommy” Schleicher died March 1, eight days after the crash that happened on Lapeer Road in Orion Township. He was 31.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a silver or gray Kia Optima, model year 2013 to 2015, struck the sign, sending it airborne and through the windshield of Schleicher’s 2013 Volkswagen Passat. The Optima driver didn’t stop after hitting the sign.

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or www.1800speakup.org.
