Reward offered in armed robbery case

The Jefferson City Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying the person responsible for an armed robbery that occurred at a credit union Thursday morning.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of $1,000 for information in the incident. Tips may be given to the police by calling 573-634-6400 or by calling Crimestoppers at 573-659-8477. Tips may also be given online at jeffcitycrimestoppers.com.

Investigators said a man entered River Region Credit Union, 3608 W. Truman Blvd. shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday, brandished a handgun and demanded money. The suspect ran from the building moments later with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers did not release a description of the suspect. They were checking neighboring video surveillance cameras to determine his direction of travel. Investigators canvassed the area, but did not find him.

The police department and FBI are investigating the incident.
