Nearly six years after an Ohio State University student was killed in an off-campus home, a $2,500 reward offered by his family remains unclaimed and his homicide remains unsolved.
Tarak Underiner, 20, was found around 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 5, 2017, inside the home where he lived with several roommates on the first block of East Northwood Avenue. He had been shot multiple times.
At the time of his death, police said Underiner’s death was not believed to be random.

Police said that, to date, there have been no calls or leads about what happened to the senior, who was set to graduate with degrees in Spanish and marketing in May 2017.
Underiner was a Cincinnati native, an honors student and an Eagle Scout. He also had been an advocate for allowing the concealed carry of firearms on college campuses, testifying at the Statehouse on the issue, and had planned on going to law school.

“Whoever did this is going to have to face a higher power, but at the same time, he might be putting other people’s lives at risk and should not be out living his life while the rest of us have had our lives thrown into chaos,” Underiner’s father, Todd, told The Dispatch in 2019. “We just want some justice.”
Underiner’s family is offering a $2,500 cash reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
