One month after the body of a Kings Norton man was sadly found in a local canal, a reward of £10,000 is being offered for information about his murder.
The body of 48 year old local man Darren Round was found in the Worcester and Birmingham Canal near Masshouse Lane at 8.40am on Saturday 15th February.
A murder investigation was launched by West Midlands Police after a post mortem found that Darren had suffered severe facial injuries, consistent with an assault, before entering the canal.
Darren left his home in Kings Norton at 7.30pm on Friday 14th February wearing a blue coat and carrying a rucksack. CCTV images show him using a nearby cashpoint machine before walking along the canal to the Five Ways area of Birmingham.
It’s known that he then walked back towards home along the canal, and he was last seen on CCTV walking along the canal close to Wharf Road Bridge towards Shannon Tunnel at around 12.40am. His body was discovered later that same morning.
Now UK charity Crimestoppers is offering a significant monetary reward of £10,000 for any information passed to themselves which leads to the conviction of those responsible.
