Beaverhead Co. halts ‘largest”, “most heinous” animal cruelty case in Sheriff’s Office history, 47 animals seized

BEAVERHEAD COUNTY, Mont. – The Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people in connection to “the largest and most heinous animal cruelty case the Sheriff’s Office has worked on in its recorded history,” according to the press release posted Wednesday, April 17. 

The Sheriff’s Office found a “significant” number of deceased animals, and they seized an additional 47 animals on a property in the area of Chreston Lane. 

All of the seized animals are receiving veterinary care and currently being held until the case is completed.

The search warrant was executed under an investigation for littering and Felony Aggravated Animal Cruelty.

Two unidentified individuals were taken into custody in this case, and they have been charged with Aggravated Animal Cruelty in addition to littering.
“We would like to thank Beaverhead County Deputies, Montana Department of Livestock, Montana Highway Patrol, the Beaverhead County Fair Board, Murdochs, Dave Schuett, Tyler Tash, Southwest Montana Veterinary Service, and the Beaverhead Animal Shelter for their assistance in making this operation possible,” said Sheriff David Wendt in the release
