Family dog shot, reward offered

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP-TV) – A North Platte family is devastated. The family’s 6-year old black lab went missing Sunday. The dog was found a day later with the help of a GPS tracking device she was wearing.

The lab was shot and killed by someone who used a shotgun. The dog was shot in the head.

Chief Sheriff Deputy Rolland Kramer with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department told News 2 this is an active criminal investigation.

Kramer said the incident happened in an area outside of town at South Buffalo and north of North Lake Road where people have a right to protect their animals and livestock if they are being bothered. He did not say this is what happened in this case, but says if it did he hopes the person responsible would come forward to work it out.

There is a $1000 reward for information leading to the solving of this crime.
