Lincolnton man charged with assault on female and animal cruelty

LINCOLNTON – Officers with the Lincolnton Police Department responded to 620 Tait Street, Lincolnton in reference to a domestic disturbance on Friday afternoon, Jan. 6 at around 1:30 p.m. Upon their arrival, it was determined that a male and female were inside the residence, and the male was physically keeping the female from opening the door to let the officers inside. 

When officers made entry into the residence, the suspect ran into another room and when the officers followed, the suspect grabbed a dog and put some type of clothing around the dog’s neck and started choking the dog. The officers were able to get the suspect to release the dog by using a taser, and then were able to arrest the suspect without any further problems.
