Pittsfield resident pleads guilty to two counts of animal cruelty

Pittsfield — Kelly Hathaway pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty in Central Berkshire District Court on Friday, January 27. According to a press release from the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, Hathaway pled guilty to the charges as part of a plea agreement.

After agreeing to the plea agreement, Hathaway was ordered to have a mental health evaluation and “follow any aftercare as instructed by the court.” She was also placed on two years probation, ordered to perform 50 hours of community service, ordered to not possess any animals, and to surrender any animals she currently has in her care.

According to various news reports, both Hathaway and Arthur Raney were charged in March 2022 with abandoning 15 cats during a snow emergency in January 2022.
