GREENWICH — A Greenwich woman is facing an animal cruelty charge after veterinarians were forced to euthanize her emaciated and malnourished dog, police said.

Aubriana Dejesus, 25, was arrested Thursday, according to an arrest summary provided by Greenwich Police Capt. Mark Zuccerella.

The summary shows police began investigating Dejesus after Cornell University Veterinary Specialists, a Stamford-based veterinary hospital, contacted police about the condition of her dog.

The veterinarians told police the dog “suffered from profound emaciation, malnutrition and neglect” and was euthanized as a result, the summary states. The records show Dejesus was briefly held on $1,500 bond and given a court date of Jan. 13.
