(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Robert J. Gould was sentenced to 126 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on Friday.

It comes after the 57-year-old was convicted of sexually abusing two girls in Woodstock and Island Lake over the course of nearly 13 years.

When the abuse started, in 2001, the girls were about 3 years old, the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office said.

The women later reported the abuse in 2016 after moving to Canada.

The case was investigated by the Halifax Regional Police in Canada and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Gould was on McHenry County’s most wanted list until his arrest in 2017.

In November of 2022, Gould was found guilty on 21 felony counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, Criminal Sexual Assault, and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse at a jury trial.

He must now serve 85% of his sentence, which is 122 years.
