After years as an icon of the comic books and many delayed attempts to bring her to the big screen, Wonder Woman finally made her movie debut in the DCU and nearly single-handedly saved the struggling franchise. With Gal Gadot’s lead performances and Patty Jenkins’ take on the character, these movies became a huge superhero movie event.
Despite being the first DCEU hero to find real success, the future of Wonder Woman in the cinematic universe remains a big question mark. After news that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 would not be moving forward, James Gunn has suggested that the iconic hero will still have a role going forward. As all that gets sorted out, for now, fans can look back on the Wonder Woman movies with some clever and funny memes.

As big of a hit as Wonder Woman was with critics and audiences, the follow-up Wonder Woman 1984 wasn’t received so enthusiastically. Certainly, there are plenty of fans who enjoyed and loved the sequel, but there are also a passionate group of fans who were not pleased.

The villain that stole the show was Pedro Pascal’s Maxwell Lord. He was a manipulative businessman who would do anything to get his wishes and keep his business afloat. The plot twist that exposed Lord for his true self and evil doings threw audiences for a loop and truly captivated their attention.
Pedro Pascal brought the necessary depth to his character that fans say carried the film. He is a villain that is easy to love and hate due to his varying qualities and circumstances. Maxwell Lord brings light to the perils of giving in to selfish desires and the troubles that capitalism can bring to an individual.
Carrying The Team
Despite being one of the best superhero teams of all time, Justice League was another huge letdown in the DCEU. It didn’t help that, going into the movie, Wonder Woman was the only hero who was successfully established on her own.
