Arrest made in furniture store heist

MONROE — Union County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives began investigating an incident involving the theft of furniture from a local business, and video surveillance showed the criminal wore a pair of crew socks on his hands and a t-shirt tied around his face, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives learned that the local business in this case received a call from 59-year-old Timmy Oxendine, who indicated he was in the possession of the stolen furniture and inquired about a potential reward for its return. After the call, Oxendine reportedly drove back to the local business with the stolen furniture seeking a reward.
