Man attacked, bike stolen outside Far East Side restaurant, Madison police say

A man was attacked and had his bike stolen outside a Far East Side restaurant on Sunday, Madison police reported.

At about 5 p.m. Sunday, the man was inside McDonald’s, 4502 E. Washington Ave., when he noticed someone trying to take his bike. The man went outside and chased after the person who stole his bike, police spokesperson Stephanie Fryer said in a statement.

Chief Shon Barnes said in his blog that the man got his bike back when he chased down the person who took it.

As the man returned to the McDonald’s, he was attacked by a group in the parking lot, with one member of the group stating he had a gun, Fryer aid.

The group left as police were called, and no arrests have been made, Fryer said.
