No deputies were injured, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. — A man was shot and killed by a Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputy near Casa Grande Thursday evening.
The shooting, which happened near the intersection of Mescalero and Hualapai drives, happened during an investigation about a stolen dirt bike.
Officers were interviewing the man, identified as 36-year-old Michael Obregon, when Obregon allegedly pulled out a gun, deputies said. A deputy then shot Obregon twice.
Obregon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office did not release the identity of the deputy that shot Obregon, but said the deputy wasn’t injured.
An investigation into Obregon found he had a felony warrant for a parole violation and that the dirt bike he was on was stolen.
