Scam
The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking residents to continue watching out for cons and scams. On Aug. 24, South Bruce OPP responded to a report of a computer fraud in South Bruce. The investigation determined that an individual had received a notification their computer was not operating properly. The individual provided personal banking information and suffered a loss of $7,100. The investigation is continuing. The South Bruce OPP is requesting anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web tip at www.cstip.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000. Dangerous driving
On Aug. 24 at 3:22 p.m., the South Bruce OPP received a call from a concerned member of the public regarding the driving behaviour of a motorist on Bruce Road 3 in South Bruce. The motorist had drove over the complainant’s front lawn and proceeded on Bruce Road 3. The vehicle was located by police and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was found to have been under the influence of alcohol. He was placed under arrest and taken to a qualified breath technician. A 48-year-old Jerseyville man was charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – over 80, dangerous operation, drive motor vehicle with open liquor and fail to surrender permit.
Impaired, collision
On Aug. 28 at 10:14 p.m., South Bruce OPP, Brockton Fire and Bruce County Paramedic Service responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Durham Street in Walkerton. As a result of the investigation officers believed that the driver was impaired by alcohol. He was subsequently placed under arrest and taken to a qualified breath technician for breath tests. A 27-year-old Mildmay man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle – over 80 and dangerous operation.

Impaired
On Sept. 4 at 11:30 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol in Huron-Kinloss observed a suspicious vehicle on Campbell Street in Lucknow. As a result of the traffic stop, officers believed that the driver was impaired by alcohol. He was subsequently placed under arrest and taken to a qualified breath technician for breath tests. A 22-year-old Arran-Elderslie man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation of a motor vehicle – over 80.
Mini bike recovered
On Sept. 2 at 10 a.m., the South Bruce OPP received a report of a theft after a mini bike was stolen from a property along Colborne Street South in Walkerton. Officers on patrol observed the stolen bike at a location in Brockton. As a result of the investigation an individual was arrested and charged, and the mini bike was recovered. A 30-year-old Brockton man was charged with possession of stolen property and fail to comply with release order. The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.
