HOPEWELL TWP. – Local firefighters are asking for the community’s support in finding the person who stole valuable rescue equipment from their station.

Members of the Hopewell Township Volunteer Fire Department’s Station 92 said someone entered the station along Brodhead Road on Dec. 20 without permission, stealing a collection of hydraulic rescue tools used by volunteers in the community. The department asked for community support on Facebook the day after the incident, asking anyone with information about the theft to help them track down the life-saving devices.

“Currently, we are missing a Honda Hydraulic Generator, a set of hydraulic spreaders, a set of hydraulic cutters, a large hydraulic ram and two sections of blue hydraulic hose,” members of Station 92 said in the social media post. “All of this equipment, with the exception of the hose, is serialized and all pawn shops, scrap yards, and vendors in the area have been made aware to keep an eye out for this equipment.”

According to the post, the stolen equipment is estimated to be worth over $30,000 to replace. While the department’s insurance will cover a portion of these losses, officials said that there will be a “significant out-of-pocket expense” for the fire department.

As of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made in connection to the incident.

Those with information on the stolen equipment are encouraged to call the Hopewell Township Police Department or the Crime Solvers of Beaver County (724-774-2000), where they can anonymously report any information regarding to the theft. Any information leading to an arrest and conviction of the people responsible in this case will make the caller eligible for a monetary reward.
