D.C. Police said the victim’s car was stolen from the 1700 block of U, Southeast, and inside the vehicle were eight five-week-old American bulldog puppies.

In the police report, the victim said she was loading the puppies into her car when she went back inside the house. The car was running but she had the keys and thought she had locked the vehicle. When she came back outside her car was no longer in the alleyway.

MPD says the stolen car was recovered earlier.

The puppies are the latest case of dognapping in the District. On New Year’s Eve, a pit bull puppy was stolen during a home invasion in Southeast D.C. There have also been several French Bulldogs that have been stolen, in the District since November. In one of the most recent dognapping cases, an arrest was made.

Anyone who has any information about the location of the one puppy that is still missing or information about the suspect should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $1,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia.
