Trevor Shawn Chaput, 33, went missing on July 6, according to his family. Sarnia police say his disappearance is considered suspicious.

“This ordeal has been very difficult for the family and any answers would be greatly appreciated,” police said in a statement.

The disappearance is being investigated by the city police criminal investigations division.

“We do believe that somebody must know something out there,” said Const. Giovanni Sottosanti. “Whatever can guide us in the right direction, we’re more than happy to receive” the information.

Chaput is described as five feet six inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds.

Crime Stopper doubled its maximum award to $4,000 for information leading to an arrest or the location of Chaput.

City police officers searched an area of Aamjiwnaang First Nation in early August as part of its investigation.

Officers with the police’s emergency response team and criminal investigations unit spread out into a field and a dense brush area near the two roads on the southern edge of the First Nation during the three-hour search.

Police confirmed at that time Chaput was “involved in the drug subculture” in the area.

Anyone with information about Chaput is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or Det. Tyler Callander at 519-344-8861 ext. 6193.
