Reward increased in Fleming case

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Gretchen Fleming or who was around the area of the My Way Lounge on the night of Dec. 3 is asked to contact Det. James Zimmerman at 304-424-1072 or the Police Department at 304-424-8444.

PARKERSBURG — Rewards for information leading to the location and return of a missing Vienna woman and the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance have increased to a combined $65,000.

Parkersburg Police Chief Matthew Board said the family of Gretchen Fleming, 28, told him the additional funds were made possible by Parkersburg businesspeople who care about the woman and the area “and wanted to help but wish to remain anonymous.”

A reward of $32,500 is being offered “for substantial information leading to the current physical location and return” of Fleming, according to a poster provided by the family and shared by Board.

A separate $32,500 reward is for “information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in Gretchen’s disappearance and/or physical harm to her,” it says.

Fleming was last known to have been seen at the My Way Lounge in downtown Parkersburg in the early morning hours of Dec. 4. She was reported missing on Dec. 12, and Parkersburg Police continue to investigate, following up on a variety of tips, including recently near Ravenswood.

Police have a person of interest in the case, a man seen on video leaving the My Way with Fleming. Board said the man initially told investigators Fleming had gotten into his vehicle, a dark-colored Nissan Rogue with Darth Vader decals on the back windows, but had gotten out before he returned to his home. He has since stopped communicating with police, Board said.

The person of interest’s residence has been searched by police, but the man’s name has not been released by authorities and he has not been charged in the case.

People with information about the case are encouraged to contact lead Detective James Zimmerman at 304-424-1072 or the Police Department at 304-424-8444.
