Search continues for missing fisherman in Greene County

Officials are continuing to search for a missing fisherman in Greene County.State police say the first alert for 65-year-old Shane Phillips’ disappearance came in around 11:30 Thursday night. Shane Phillips’ daughter, Rebecca, says his dad went fishing Thursday afternoon. When he did not return, his family knew something was wrong. “He’s a lifetime resident of Greene County,” said Rebecca Phillips. “He loved this area. He loved fishing, kayaking, hunting, he loved anything outdoors.” Shane Phillips’ wife says she and her husband would often fish or kayak at the Wisecarver Dam. She says her husband was an avid outdoorsman and knew his way around the area, both on the land and in the water. Sky 4 with Action Cam was over the search scene near the Wisecarver Dam in Franklin Township Friday afternoon. Over the weekend, hundreds of volunteers met in the area to help the family search for Shane Phillips. On Monday afternoon, dozens more neighbors and friends scoured the area as well. Members of the Murrysville Dive Team have assisted in the search.Pennsylvania State Police say they are using all of their resources to help in this search. Crews were bringing in two submarines from other parts of the state to help as well. “They make take some time to get here but when they do, they will be a significant help,” said state police Trooper Rocco Gagliardi. In the meantime, the Phillips family is asking anyone who may have been near the Wisecarver Dam on Thursday to share any information, especially if they saw Shane Phillips at any point. “Any detail helps us with the timeline,” said Rebecca Phillips. “This area is frequented by many people. We know people were here that evening and that day because it was a beautiful day,” added Linette Phillips, Shane’s wife. “Please share your timeline, offer that information, it may help police.” The family has started a Facebook page to provide updates on their search.
