$5,000 reward offered for information about murder of woman found fatally shot in car

MAITLAND, Fla. – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is hoping a $5,000 reward will help lead to tips to locate the person responsible for a murder in March.

Deputies said that they responded to the Bentley at Maitland Apartments in the early morning hours of March 22. When officers arrived, they located a woman found shot inside of a vehicle.

The victim, identified as Shantaza Shaw, 30, later died at the hospital according to deputies.

Investigators wrote in their report that two other vehicles nearby appeared to have suffered damage near the victim’s car.

Tasia Horton said she remembers seeing the commotion that morning.

“That was a scary night. I remember hearing the boom from my apartment,” Horton said. “We had a memorial here for a while. They had like little teddy bears and stuff to dedicate to her.”

A witness also told investigators they saw a “figure fleeing the scene.”

Without any arrests in the killing, neighbors hope the reward helps generate new tips.

Horton also said Shaw was a mother.

“Remember the kids. The kids deserve closure. You know, they should know exactly what happened to their mom. I think the community deserves justice. We all deserve justice. She was a woman who deserved someone to fight for her and fight for her closure,” Horton said.
