Investigators are asking for answers five years after an Upstate man was fatally shot in a gas station parking lot.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Office officials said Randy Smith was on his way home from work on the night of March 30, 2016, when he stopped by a convenience store on East Whitner Street in the City of Anderson.

As Smith left the store, on the way to his car, he was talking to an acquaintance when a black man fired shots from the front passenger window of what is believed to have been a white Chevy Cruze, according to investigators.

Smith was hit by gunfire and died, investigators said.
Anderson Area Crime Stoppers and the Smith family are offering a reward of $6,500 for information leading to the arrest of the individual or individuals involved.
Investigators with the City of Anderson Police Department continue to follow leads in the case but are still looking for additional information or witnesses who can positively identify the individuals involved.
