Police blotter: Stolen vehicle found damaged beyond repair

A pick-up truck stolen from a local business was later found burnt beyond repair, Norfolk OPP say.

The vehicle – a silver 2004 GMC Sierra – was taken from a business at a Norfolk County Road 21 address sometime on the night of June 12 or during the early morning hours of June 13, police said.

Meanwhile, police had responded to a report of a vehicle fire at a Windham Road 13, Norfolk County address at about 5:13 a.m. on June 13. It was later discovered that the burnt out vehicle was the same vehicle that had been reported stolen from Norfolk County Road 21.

Police said the vehicle was damaged beyond repair.

Items stolen from inside vehicle

A pocketknife, glasses and other items were stolen from a vehicle at a Lynndale Road home, Norfolk OPP say.

The theft took place sometime between 9 p.m. June 11 and 8 a.m. June 12, police said.

Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables after parking them. Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call police immediately.

Break and enter

The OPP canine unit, the OPP emergency response team and Norfolk OPP officers responded to a break-and-enter on June 13.

The officers were dispatched to a report of a break-and-enter in progress at a Norfolk Street North business at about 3:12 a.m.

Upon arrival, police found that a quantity of electronic items had been stolen from the business and the culprit or culprits had fled in an unknown direction.

The break-in remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Norfolk OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
