Missing Maryland woman, 20, is found dead in park after cops are called to ‘suspicious situation’

Police have launched a murder probe into the death of a 20-year-old Maryland woman who went missing close to a month ago after finding her lifeless body in a Colesville park on Sunday.

Keylin Yolibeth Chavez-Dominguez, 20, was last seen by friends and family on December 30, with a witness telling police they’d seen her leaving her Rockville apartment complex with a ‘Hispanic male’ on New Year’s Eve.

Montgomery County Police said that the Baltimore medical examiner’s office has yet to determine a cause and manner of death, but officers are calling it a homicide.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered by police for information that leads to the arrest of the homicide suspect, but as of Friday, cops said they still have no solid leads.

Earlier, family had offered a reward of $1,000 for any information about her whereabouts.

‘Chavez-Dominguez was last seen by her family and friends at approximately 6 pm, on Friday, Dec 30, 2022, in her apartment in the 12300 block of Braxfield Court,’ police said in a statement.

‘A witness claims to have seen her leaving the Braxfield Court apartment complex with a Hispanic male on Saturday, Dec 31, 2022.

‘The witness saw her wearing a white sweater, a tan vest, black leggings, and dark-colored boots.’

Police have spoken with family members and friends and searched several locations that the 20-year-old frequented but have not been able to establish any new leads. They also have no suspects.

Speaking to a local outlet earlier this year in Honduras, Chavez-Dominguez’s mother, Sandra Dominguez, poured her heart out in search of her missing daughter, her interview translated by the TV station.

She described Chavez-Dominguez as ‘part of her heart’ but also revealed the hardships her daughter faced.

‘My marriage was destroyed six years ago when she was a teenager and for her, it was a horrible trauma. She felt like life was meaningless without her dad,’ she told the outlet.

Dominguez then made a call out to Honduran politician and President of Honduras Xiomara Castro to help find her daughter.

But the search for her daughter came to a tragic end when officers said they responded on Saturday at 2pm at Upper Paint Branch Stream Valley Park, about an hour from Washington D.C., to a report of a ‘suspicious situation,’ and found the missing woman dead.

The location her body was found was about half an hour from where she had been living.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death as the investigation continues.

Chavez-Dominguez had a strong presence on social media often posting pictures of her life.

Just two weeks prior to her death, the 20-year-old, who is often seen smiling in posts, uploaded an eerie video to her TikTok singing a song in Spanish with a filter that appeared to give her bruises and cuts to her face.

In early December, Chavez-Dominguez posted a video with two pregnancy tests, an ultrasound and pictures of her appearing to be getting ready to welcome a child.

The 14-second clip ends with an angel and is captioned: ‘I love you forever my angel in the sky. My sunshine.’

A GoFundMe set up for the 20-year-old which hopes to raise $6,000 has so far seen $2,000 worth of donations.
