2 cars stolen, security guard shot after 3 crooks break into Opa-Locka car dealership

OPA-LOCKA, FLA. (WSVN) – Police are investigating after a car dealership in Opa-Locka was targeted by armed thieves.

The incident happened at a used car dealership, CarYou Miami, located near Burlington Street and Northwest 26th Avenue, Thursday morning, around 4:30 a.m.

Surveillance video showed three men inside the business’ office wearing hoodies and gloves with their faces covered.

One man could be seen with a gun in his hand.

The business owner said the crooks stole all the keys to every car on the lot.

According to officials, the trio climbed the gate of the dealership and video shows the crooks making their getaway slamming through it with a stolen car.

The owner of the business said the crooks stole two cars and shot the security guard. He was ambushed while on his break and was unable to fight back, according to the business owner.

The security guard was transported to a local hospital but has since been released and is expected to be OK. He was shot in the hip, but 7News was told it was only a flesh wound.

Since the business is a used car dealership, the keys that were stolen were the only copies. The owners said they are afraid the trio may return and attempt to steal other vehicles.

The incident remains under investigation.
