Where’s Yogi Bear? Did he steal one too many picnic baskets?
The Yogi Bear statue has been stolen from the entrance of the Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Pelahatchie. According to the Pelahatchie Police Department, there is a video of the theft, which took place at 11:42 p.m. Friday.
Police said the video shows a pickup truck entering the park, making a U-turn at the entrance and stopping near the statue. The suspect, or suspects, then detached the statue from its base and stole it within about three minutes, according to police.
Anyone with information that leads to an arrest or recovery of the statue could be eligible for a reward. Any information regarding this case can be reported to the Pelahatchie Police department at 601-854-5223 or call Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
